PHONO ("the App") is a macOS / Windows desktop select-to-annotate tool. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how the App handles data.
What we collect
The App does not collect any personally identifiable information. No sign-up, no login, no user tracking.
How data is processed
Text you select/import: to provide translation, it is sent over an encrypted connection to our translation service; it is not linked to your identity, not used for anything else, and not retained long-term.
Images you import (OCR): to recognize text in the image, it is sent to a third-party OCR service (ocr.space); used only to return the result and not retained.
Your saved words: stored only on your device, never uploaded.
The App requires the "Accessibility" permission solely to read your currently selected text; it does not monitor or log other keyboard input.
Third-party services
Translation is relayed through our own service; image text recognition uses ocr.space. These services only receive the text/image content to be processed in order to return a result.
Data security
All network traffic is encrypted via HTTPS. The App contains no ads and no third-party analytics SDKs.
