The /e/ sound in English

How to make the /e/ sound
Hold the tongue mid-high and forward with the jaw slightly open and lips relaxed and unrounded.

The mistake learners make with /e/
Confusing it with /æ/ — "bed" vs "bad" — or raising it toward /ɪ/ so "pen" sounds like "pin".
